Test shot 5
Diving in head first
This was interesting shot to work out. I knew that i wanted him to jump into door which lead into a black hole. I just wasn't sure how i wanted him to do it. Thats seems to be a reacquiring problem of mine.
So i started with the basic and researched into people jumping off things. I'm a climber and as a result spend a lot of time in climbing centers where half the fun can be found in falling off the wall and jumping off when you get to the top of your problem.
I started talking to some people about it and someone suggested i look at BASE jumpers.
BASE jumping, also sometimes written as B.A.S.E. jumping, is parachuting or wingsuit flying from a fixed structure or cliff. "BASE" is an acronym that stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: building, antenna, span, and Earth (cliff). Its pretty crazy stuff.

The problem is that although ideal base jumper is just so fast! It's very adrenalin driven and i imagine would be difficult to break down enough for what i want to active with this shot.
so it was back to the drawing board.
Under water base jumping!
Who would have thought this was a thing! Guillaume Nery base jumping is done underwater where you dive into the depths of the Blue Hole taking only one breath. Its pretty intense but completely ideal for what i need!
By adding the element of water too the jump every moment matters. it almost looks like a form of dance.
This shot is quite an important shot within my film, a very emotional moments and theres something about this movement feel right to me. its almost like there fighting to jump, which could almost be seen as being attacked by an emotional wall to jump into nothing-less that could also be seen as depression.

My shot!
This was a great shot to animating, Really fun to try and work out. Still in the very early stages but its only a test shot there are a few things that i could have done better. Timing seems to be an on going issue with me. this can really be seen within the first few seconds of this shot. BUTTT i'm confident that i can fix it.
i feel that i've managed to gain the emotion that i wanted within this shot, another issue i do have though within this shot is how to end it.The character is meant to jump into a door into darkness.
i need to work out how the camera angle will be effected by this which is proving to be quite difficult. But once i've sorted it i'll report back on this at a later date.
